What to say.

"Hi, I'm your neighbour and I am also a volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. February is Heart Month and I am collecting donations to fund vital heart and stroke research. Would you be interested in making a donation today?"

"Yes, I would." "Thank you for your support." Issue a receipt for donations above $15 and hand out a Heart Month brochure
"Yes, but how much should I donate?" "A donation in any amount is welcome. Many residents have been donating between $10 and $25."
"I've already donated through another Heart and Stroke event/program." "Thank you very much for your support." Hand out a Heart Month brochure
"No." "Thank you very much for your time."
"I don't have any money on me." "I'd be happy to accept a personal cheque or you can make a donation online." Hand out a Heart Month brochure and point out the donation envelope and website information
"I don't have the time

"When's a good time for me to come back." Schedule another visit
