Research that saves lives.

Discover the many research initiatives your fundraising efforts will help to fund:

Stroke Research

About 50,000 strokes occur in Canada each year and over 14,000 are fatal. The Heart and Stroke Foundation is leading national efforts to reverse this trend.

Brain Cell Research

Many of our researchers concentrate on the mechanisms that cause and trigger heart disease and stroke. For example, they look at what happens after a heart attack or stroke to see whether damage to the surrounding cells can be repaired. The result could be more Canadians living a better quality of life and potentially help prevent these diseases from occurring in the first place.

Resuscitation Research

Nearly 70% of the estimated 40,000 cardiac arrests that occur in Canada each year take place out of the hospital, and most of them are fatal. The Heart and Stroke Foundation is committed to improving the success rates of CPR and AEDs by providing training and national guidelines – to ultimately save more lives.
